Shorter LTB review window
Previous rule
30 days to request a review — only for orders issued before 2026-07-01 (old rule)
Current rule
15 days to request a review of an LTB order — in force since July 1, 2026 (OIC 616/2026) for orders issued on/after that date
Shorter N4 notice period

14 days for monthly/yearly tenancies — applies to N4s served before 2026-09-21
New rule once in force
7 days for ALL tenancy types, for N4s served on/after Sept 21, 2026 (OIC 618/2026); a 7-day N4 served earlier is void — keep using 14 days until then
N12 compensation exemption (120-day notice)

All N12 evictions require one month's rent compensation — applies to N12s served before 2026-09-21

Compensation waived for N12s served on/after Sept 21, 2026 that give at least 120 days' notice (OIC 618/2026); until then, compensation is still required for every N12
50% arrears rule before raising new issues

Tenant may raise new issues at an L1 hearing without precondition

For hearings under the amended s.82, the tenant must meet the 50% payment requirement no later than 7 days before the hearing — in force 2026-09-21 (OIC 1114/2026; O. Reg. 241/26)
