LTB Hearing Preparation Checklist

Before the Hearing

  • Organize all evidence documents in chronological order
  • Prepare a brief summary of events (1–2 pages)
  • Make copies of evidence bundle: one for you, one for the adjudicator, one for the tenant
  • Exchange evidence with the other party in advance per Bill 60 requirements

What to Bring

  • 3 copies of your evidence bundle (yours, adjudicator's, tenant's)
  • Photo ID
  • Calculator (to verify arrears calculations on the spot)
  • Pen and paper (to take notes on the tenant's statements)
  • Original or copy of the lease agreement

How Hearings Work

A typical LTB hearing includes: opening statements (applicant goes first), presenting evidence, cross-examination by the other party, questions from the adjudicator, and closing statements. Stay professional, concise, and stick to facts directly relevant to your case.

Common mistake: Emotional statements, irrelevant information, or disorganized evidence. Adjudicators need clear facts and documents — not personal stories.
